We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Assistant/Support Worker to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves providing essential support to patients in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical terminology, patient care, and administrative support, ensuring high-quality service delivery in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with patient intake procedures, including gathering medical history and vital signs.
Provide direct patient care, ensuring comfort and safety during their stay.
Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
Support healthcare professionals in performing diagnostic tests and procedures, including X-rays and other imaging.
Maintain accurate patient records using EHR systems, ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans and care instructions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various departments such as dermatology, urgent care, internal medicine, and geriatrics.
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in basic life support and emergency medicine protocols.
Uphold the highest standards of hygiene and safety within clinical environments.
Requirements
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; hospital experience is a plus.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding is essential.
Familiarity with EHR systems for efficient patient documentation.
Experience in various specialties such as outpatient care, medical-surgical units, PICU, OR experience, or emergency medicine is advantageous.
Basic life support certification is required; additional certifications in relevant fields are desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills to provide excellent patient service and support emotional well-being.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating initiative in individual tasks.
