We are seeking compassionate and reliable Health Care Assistants to join our bank staff team, providing high-quality domiciliary care to clients in their own homes. As a bank staff member, you will enjoy flexible working hours, allowing you to pick up shifts that suit your availability. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting vulnerable adults, the elderly, or those with disabilities to maintain their independence and dignity at home. You will work on an as-needed basis, covering short-term absences, peak periods, or emergency shifts, ensuring continuity of care for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting clients' privacy and preferences.
Assist with mobility and transfers, using equipment such as hoists where necessary.
Support with medication administration in line with care plans and organisational policies.
Help with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring nutritional needs are met.
Perform light household tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping, to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
Monitor and report changes in clients' health or behavior to the care team, maintaining accurate records via digital or paper-based systems.
Offer emotional support and companionship, engaging in conversations and activities to reduce isolation.
Accompany clients to appointments or outings if required.
Adhere to infection control procedures, health and safety guidelines, and safeguarding protocols at all times.
Work flexibly across various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with potential for overnight care.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in a care role, preferably in domiciliary or home care settings (minimum 6 months desirable).
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification), or willingness to work towards it.
Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (enhanced level).
Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle (essential for traveling between client homes).
Right to work in the UK.
Availability for flexible shifts, including short-notice calls.
Desirable Skills and Qualities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and families.
Empathy, patience, and a person-centered approach to care.
Basic IT skills for using care management apps or electronic recording systems.
Knowledge of common health conditions, such as dementia, mobility issues, or chronic illnesses.
Ability to work independently while following individualized care plans.
