We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Health Care Assistant/Support Worker to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing essential support to patients across various departments, including inpatient and outpatient settings, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy, and be capable of supporting clinical staff in a fast-paced hospital environment. Experience in hospital medicine, emergency care, or trauma centers is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to work within a Level I or Level II trauma center, Geriatrics, Medical-surgical units, or specialized clinics such as dermatology and internal medicine.
Responsibilities
Assist with patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
Support patient service activities such as mobility assistance, hygiene care, and comfort measures
Administer medications and perform basic life support (BLS) as trained and authorized
Document patient information accurately using medical terminology and ICD coding where applicable
Support clinical staff with procedures such as X-ray preparation, specimen collection, and basic diagnostics
Monitor patient conditions and report changes to nursing staff promptly
Maintain a clean and safe environment in compliance with hospital protocols and infection control standards
Assist with administrative tasks including appointment scheduling and documentation support for medical records
Experience
Prior experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine settings is preferred
Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous
Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care environments, including Geriatrics, PICU, OR experience, or medical-surgical units
Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols
Proficiency with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required or preferred
Previous exposure to hospital experience involving X-ray procedures or Level I Trauma Center work is a plus
Experience supporting patients in various specialties such as internal medicine or outpatient clinics enhances suitability for this role
