We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Health Care Assistant/Support Worker to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing essential support in patient care settings, assisting medical professionals, and ensuring a high standard of patient service. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in medical terminology, physiology, and clinical procedures, with experience in hospital or outpatient environments. This position offers an opportunity to work in dynamic healthcare settings such as emergency rooms, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and specialized units like Geriatrics, PICU, or Medical-Surgical departments. The role requires a dedicated individual committed to delivering exceptional patient care while supporting the operational needs of healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting vital signs and documenting patient information accurately using EHR systems
Support medical staff with procedures such as medication administration, ICD coding, and recording patient history
Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report any changes to healthcare professionals
Prepare patients for examinations or treatments in various settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, or emergency departments
Support physicians and nurses during procedures such as X-ray imaging or surgery in OR environments
Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to infection control protocols
Provide compassionate patient service by addressing patient needs and ensuring comfort throughout their visit or stay
Assist with documentation related to dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, or other specialties as required
Support hospital staff in managing electronic health records (EHR), ICD coding, and other administrative tasks related to patient care
Experience
Prior experience working in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable
Experience with Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Center environments is a plus
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification preferred
Hands-on experience with inpatient care settings such as Geriatrics or PICU is advantageous
Familiarity with medical-surgical units and internal medicine practices is beneficial
Previous exposure to X-ray procedures or OR support roles will be considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within fast-paced healthcare environments including urgent care facilities and hospital wards
