Job Description

Job summary The post holder is responsible for assisting the GPs with an Extended Role in Respiratory and Specialist Respiratory Nurses in the respiratory service. They will assist with the delivery of care management to the service population and undertake tasks and duties delegated by a GP/ Nurse or other suitably qualified clinical professional strictly in accordance with service practice guidelines and protocols. Key responsibilities Check patient identification and confirm details with the patient. Take clinical measurements from patients as appropriate such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, peak flow, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight (body mass index).

Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient interventions. Give accurate and appropriate information to patients within own competence. Ensure that anomalies are reported to a senior member of the clinical team. Notify a GP/Nurse of any significant patient issues.

Ensure full and accurate recording in the patients computerised records. Carry out administrative tasks for example, but not limited to, call and recall activities and stock takes as directed by senior members of the service. Special requirements of the post An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality. Holds an ARTP Performing Spirometry Certification.
