We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including nursing homes, care homes, and assisted living facilities. This role involves supporting clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their independence.
Duties
Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Provide support with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor client adherence to care plans.
Engage in behaviour management techniques to support clients with challenging behaviours.
Maintain accurate records of patient care and report any changes in condition to the healthcare team.
Facilitate activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation for clients.
Assist with mobility and heavy lifting when necessary to ensure client safety.
Drive clients to appointments or social outings as required.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in case management to develop effective care plans.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
Qualifications
Previous experience in senior care, home care, or caregiving is highly desirable.
Familiarity with medical terminology and experience in hospice care is an advantage.
Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and patient care best practices is essential.
First aid certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
A valid driving licence is required for transporting clients as needed.
Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively.
