Job Description

Do you want to support children and young people to manage emotional and mental health challenges and build resilience?



We are recruiting a permanent Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join our multidisciplinary S CAMHS team at the Elizabeth Williams Clinic in Llanelli.



Working to care plans established by therapists, you will engage young people in behavioural activation, graduated exposure and social activities, and encourage practical skills development in community settings through one-to-one work and therapeutic groups.



The role involves providing direct support through one-to-one and group interventions for children and young people experiencing emotional health challenges. The role involves community skills work, encouraging and accompanying young people in real-life settings to practice strategies that alleviate anxiety and low mood. The post holder will also engage in activity facilitation, assisting with behavioural activation, graded exposure tasks, and social activities to help consolidate therapeutic progress. A key responsibility is linking to resources, ensuring young people and their families are connected with local community, voluntary, and third-sector supports. Effective teamwork and documentation are essential, requiring collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, active contribution to care planning, and maintaining accurate records.



Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.



We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.



We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.



Our services are provided in:



Four main hospitals:

Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest



Five community hospitals:

Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire



Two integrated care centres:

Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings



47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers



Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
