We are looking to appoint a caring and flexible individual to work with the Health & Personal Care Team in providing assistance to students with their medication, tube feeding, and personal care needs. You will need to be sensitive to the needs of the student and respectful tailoring your approach to meet the individual needs of each student. The successful candidate will need to be patient, empathetic, and committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued and respected.
You will work across all classes, supporting a range of medical, feeding, and personal care needs for students throughout the day. This is a key role in helping ensure all students receive the support they need to thrive in a safe and inclusive environment.
Seven Hills School is a Co-educational Secondary Special School co-located with a good Catholic High School near the centre of the city. We cater for pupils from 11 to 19 years of age. All pupils have learning difficulties, and many have other associated difficulties relating to communication, sensory, physical and/or medical disabilities. In common with many other special schools, pupils admitted have increasingly complex needs.

The successful candidates must:
Be able to work collaboratively within a staff team and with visiting therapists.
Provide high quality support for the learning, personal care, communication and physical needs of students, working across a range of ages and abilities.
Have a high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to young people and adults
Develop positive relationships with students, parents and staff
Be able to adapt to changing situations
Be flexible in order to respond to the needs of the students
Have experience of managing students with challenging behaviour, be Team Teach trained and have a willingness to develop this further
Teaching Assistants also contribute towards students' formal and informal assessment and help build effective relationships between home and school.
All Teaching Assistants are required to be proficient in Safe Moving and Handling techniques and Team Teach. Training will be provided as necessary. A knowledge of Makaton, basic ICT skills and experience of working with students with disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication difficulties would be an advantage but professionals with a positive attitude who are committed to their own professional development will also be considered.
