Health & Safety Advisor



Salary 35,000pa - 40,000pa (subject to experience and qualifications)



37 hours a week, Monday to Friday (8am to 6pm core hours).

26 days holiday plus 8 Bank Holidays.

Due to internal progression, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Health and Safety Advisor.

We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable individual to support the ongoing development of our health and safety culture. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you'll help ensure we maintain high standards across all our operations, meet legal and regulatory requirements, and drive continuous improvement.

The role will involve:



Assisting the Health & Safety Manager with the daily operations of the department. Providing expert support and advice to all areas of the business on health, safety, and fire management. Help develop, implement, and review health, safety, and fire safety procedures in line with legal and company requirements. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and proactive safety across the business.

Key Responsibilities:



Advise and support managers, supervisors, and site teams on health and safety matters. Develop and review documentation including risk assessments, method statements, policies, and procedures. Deliver training sessions, inductions, safety talks, and presentations across various departments. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our health and safety management systems. Support external accreditation efforts and compliance reviews. Conduct regular site visits and inspections, covering fleet operations and projects across the city. Oversee and support incident investigations, including reporting and implementation of corrective actions. Assist the H&S Manager in producing reports for the Senior Leadership Team.

What We're Looking For:



A professional, enthusiastic, and proactive approach. A genuine passion for health and safety. Committed to self-development and willing to undertake relevant accreditations/ qualifications. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels. Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within the construction industry. Track record of conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments on live construction projects. Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015. Experience in incident/accident investigation and reporting, with ability to produce detailed reports and recommend corrective actions. Competence in hazard identification and risk management. Confident using IT systems and interpreting data to produce clear, informative reports. Knowledge of current health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practice. Experience working in construction, maintenance, or a similar operational environment. Experience of producing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

Our ideal candidate will have:



Hold a NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or higher. Member of IOSH. Good awareness of First Aid at Work, Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height, COSHH, Noise & Vibration, Fire Safety training. Understanding of environmental and sustainability policies.
