Due to continued growth and success, we are looking to recruit a field based Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join the busy HSQE team working on live rail and infrastructure construction projects. We operate in a number of infrastructure construction sectors including rail, highways, renewables, battery storage, energy connections and solar where we have exciting live and upcoming projects throughout the UK.

The Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring that projects are compliant with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental regulations and legislation across multiple locations. By providing expert advice, guidance, and education on safe working practices, the role promotes a safety-first culture and helps maintain high standards in line with the company's Integrated Management System (IMS) and HSQE policies. This position is key in safeguarding the wellbeing of all employees while supporting the successful delivery of rail infrastructure, highways, civils, and power projects.

This role is a roaming field-based position covering projects from London to Wales and up Scotland.?A?clean driving licence is essential.



Proactive Ownership Mindset:



Ensure that required project inductions are carried out for all staff working on site. Educate Construction Managers and Supervisors on HSQE matters. You will champion our COMET Assurance and accident investigation tool. Conduct HSQE Start up meetings. Support the successful delivery of the Supervisor Transformed Programme to help develop our frontline supervisors. Ensure that site teams are following the quality plan, environmental management plan and safety documentation on site through auditing and checking the quality of installation, approach to environmental management and safety on site. Ensure that project competency matrices are set up, in use and up to date within the project folders. Monitor the completion of ITPs for activities being carried out in accordance with the Quality Plan. Reviews project paperwork and ensure completion and issue paperwork is on time.

Continuous Improvement:



You will drive the continued development of our See it Sort it Report it process (SISIRI). Attend project startup meetings, offering specialist advice and support on all HSQE matters. Carry out training to site teams i.e. face fit testing where trained and competent to deliver. Assist and develop the "Watch my Back" behavioural safety programme and support as directed by the HSW Manager. Deliver HSQE briefings, alerts, bulletins, toolbox talks, 'Watch My Back' initiatives to increase HSQE awareness.

Productivity and Efficiency:



Project documentation - working with the project teams, produce / advise and check associated HSQE documentation for the life span of the projects i.e. review CPP's, SWP's, TBS etc. SISIRI promotion, championing and as required, monitor, review and respond to these reports. Identify good and bad practices, record significant findings and recommended actions. Ensure Nonconformance reports are completed and closed out when required. Ensure that all site permits and assessments, are being properly conducted and monitored with results uploaded into the relevant project folders and or sent to HSQE Administrator. Create Emergency Action Plans for projects. Create Office & Project First Aid Risk Assessments. Create Fire Risk Assessments and Welfare Risk Assessments. Create 5 Point Risk Assessments for high-risk activities as requested by project teams i.e. manual handling. Pro-actively manages clients' expectations and satisfaction.

Collaboration:



Produce and carry out Principal Contractors Induction for relevant projects covered and ensure teams remain compliant. Support our Compliance Coordinator by conducting project audits as per the IMS Audit procedure and project audit schedule. Support external audits such as RISQS, PCL, ISO. Approve risk assessments produced by the project teams i.e. ALO. Supports delivery of projects on the ground, attending site and advising on HSQE matters.

Safety and Wellbeing:



Investigate and record details of any incidents, cases of ill health, accidents, complaints and any nonconformances. Where relevant identify initial causes and investigate underlying causes of the events. Determine remedial action required and close out to prevent reoccurrence. Ad-hoc proactive / reactive monitoring of Subcontractor hours to ensure compliance with fatigue / hours worked policies. Identify potential risks and hazards within the workplace by working with the project management teams on HSQE matters throughout the planning and life span of the project. Assist with completion and review of COSHH assessments when required and update the COSHH register.

Job Requirements

Experience

HSQE experience in Construction is essential Previous experience working in the rail, civils or power sectors would be an advantage.

Qualifications

NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety or equivalent Portable Appliance Testing competent (Desirable) Fire Warden (Desirable) CSCS card to relevant level PTS / DCCR - (Desirable) Internal auditor to ISO standards (Desirable) External auditor to ISO standards (Desirable) IEMA Associate Member (Desirable) Face Fit Test Assessor (Desirable) CQI Affiliate Member (Advantageous)

Technical skills

Advanced MS Office skills training / experience
