To use experience, knowledge and skills to promote effective SHE management systems in a FMCG manufacturing organisation and assist the SHE Manager in the delivery of improvement programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Working in conjunction with the SHE Manager, to establish and promote an effective SHE management system
Work closely with colleagues to continually improve SHE & Regulatory performance, providing experienced advice and support
Prepare and review risk assessments in conjunction with others, e.g. Task including Human Factors, COSHH, DSEAR, Manual Handling, Machine Safety, etc; maintain a database ensuring timely completion of actions to reduce risks. Assist with training line management on risk assessment principles.
Review method statements and risk assessments provided by contract organisations, assist with inductions and monitor contractor SHE performance.
Lead / co-ordinate a variety of SHE training, regular inspections and audits
Using Accident/Incident management system for recording of and investigating all incidents, using skills to identify root causes and preventative/improvement actions where required.
Update records on SHE related matters including accident statistics, key performance indicators and other data as required for management teams.
Chair internal SHE meetings, train and coach safety representatives, produce toolbox talks and shared learnings and reports for staff at all levels.
Provide support to manage other business risks, e.g. Fire Safety, Emergency Planning, Security Management
Be able to assist with preparation of Permit to Work systems; deliver training to ensure competency of issuing authorities, and auditing to confirm system effectiveness.
Candidate Profile
Ideally the candidates will have the following profile:
Approximately 5 years' experience in SHE Management in a FMCG or other manufacturing or logistics environment.
Educated to degree level and/or possess a NEBOSH diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management and IOSH or IIRSM membership.
A good knowledge of Behavioural Based Safety advantageous.
Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and Waste Regulations advantageous.
Ability to communicate clearly at all levels; prepare and deliver presentation material.
Able to recognise, challenge and resolve potentially unsafe situations.
