About The Role



Responsibilities:

The following list constitutes the key tasks and duties of your post upon which your job performance will be assessed. Tasks are not in any particular order, therefore the sequence which they appear should not be interpreted as indicating priority or relative importance.


Duties will include:


Creating a Safe and Supportive Environment



Champion a culture of care by prioritising the wellbeing of all staff. Be part of a team that ensures full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation. Embed policies and procedures into everyday operations, making safety second nature.

Training and Development



Deliver engaging inductions for new employees and contractors. Provide ongoing training and support to staff on HSE processes. Organise external training sessions in line with the company schedule. Develop and deliver toolbox talks and SSOW (Safe Systems of Work) training.

Monitoring and Compliance



Carry out regular workplace inspections, identifying risks and recommending control measures. Complete risk assessments as per the audit schedule. Review HSE documentation, identifying areas for improvement. Ensure contractors follow all Tobermore HSE policies at all times. Maintain and update COSHH assessments as required. Issue Permits to Work and support fire alarm testing.

Incident Management and Reporting



Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and follow-up. Support visits from HSE, local authorities, or auditors.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement



Be part of promoting continuous improvement, and HEART values across the site. Participate in project teams focused on HSE initiatives. Attend meetings with stakeholders to share updates and develop improvement strategies. Promote continuous improvement and help embed our HEART values across the site. Pitch in with any other tasks that support the team and the wider business.

Health & Safety Requirements



Always follow health, safety, and environmental guidelines. Wear the correct PPE/RPE when needed and encourage others to do the same. Work safely and help your team do the same. Raise any safety concerns, accidents, or near misses. Make sure contractors and visitors follow our H&S policies while on site. Take care of company property and vehicles, using them safely and responsibly.

Due to the nature of this role -it is important to be aware that the role entails the following elements:



Standing / walking throughout the shift. Lifting devises are available, however there may be a requirement for manual handling. Requirement to move safely in confined spaces. (Dependant on task) Safely climb ladders and work at heights. The requirement to wear Personal protective gear during the shift (Dependant on task).

Required Criteria



+ NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety). o At least 2 year's practical experience delivering health and safety advice in a workplace setting o Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and workplace inspections. o Experience developing or implementing H&S policies and procedures. o Experience providing advice and guidance to staff and management on health and safety matters. o Experience maintaining H&S documentation and systems (e.g. registers, reports, training records). o Experience supporting or delivering H&S training, o 4+ years' experience in a dedicated Health & Safety role, ideally in a high-risk or regulated environment (e.g. manufacturing, construction, logistics). o Experience working with external bodies such as HSE, local authorities, or auditors. o Experience using digital H&S management systems or reporting tools. o Experience contributing to continuous improvement projects or H&S strategy development. o Experience using databases, ERP systems, or document management software. v1.0 | September 2025 Created by: G Stewart/L Leacock Page 4 of 6 inductions, or toolbox talks. o Experience supporting environmental compliance (e.g. waste management, pollution control). o Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations. o Health & Safety Legislation: Strong understanding of the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978 and associated regulations (e.g. COSHH, PUWER, RIDDOR). o Strong communication skills - ability to advise and influence at all levels. o IT proficiency - especially in managing HSE documentation and reporting systems. o Environmental Legislation: Awareness of environmental compliance requirements relevant to the sector. o Risk Management: Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and control measures. o Incident Investigation: Understanding of root cause analysis and reporting procedures. o Policy Development: Ability to draft, implement, and review HSE policies and procedures. o Sector-Specific Knowledge: Familiarity with risks and controls in manufacturing. o Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, multi-task, and meet deadlines under pressure. o High attention to detail and accuracy. o Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. o Adaptable, proactive, and self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude. o Strong team player, able to work independently when required. o Problem-solving approach with enthusiasm and resilience. o Experience handling confidential information and understanding of GDPR. o Ability to work full-time (or specified hours) onsite at the manufacturing facility. o Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard office hours if required (e.g., supporting audits, reporting deadlines). o Ability to spend the majority of the day in the manufacturing environment. o Comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment with exposure to background noise, machinery, or outdoor conditions when visiting the shop floor. o Ability to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety boots, high-vis clothing, ear protection, and hard hats when on-site. o Comfort with walking, standing, and climbing stairs/ladders during inspections or site visits. o Ability to respond quickly to incidents or emergencies, which may require physical mobility across the site. o Occasional travel between sites or to external meetings/training, if applicable. o Comfort working in varying weather conditions, especially if inspections or contractor oversight involve outdoor areas. o Full valid driving license.

Desired Criteria



o Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or logistics environment. o Training delivery experience - including toolbox talks and inductions. o Knowledge of environmental compliance (e.g. waste management, pollution control). o Experience working with Trade Union H&S reps or similar consultative bodies. o 4+ years' experience in a dedicated Health & Safety role, ideally in a high-risk or regulated environment (e.g. manufacturing, construction, logistics). o Experience working with external bodies such as HSE, local authorities, or auditors. o Experience using digital H&S management systems or reporting tools. o Experience contributing to continuous improvement projects or H&S strategy development. + Experience using databases, ERP systems, or document management software. + Access to personal transport.
