Job Description

PFE Express are a leading international freight forwarding company based in Essex, that provide intelligent global logistics solutions. Currently in a period of growth, PFE are expanding their team to introduce a H&S Manager role that will take the lead on all Health, Safety and Environmental aspects working closely with our brand new, state-of-the-art 100,000sqft Warehouse. This exciting opportunity will suit a knowledgeable, influential individual that is able to work independently and is keen to make the role their own. The hours of work will be 40hrs per week covering 24/7 shifts.

Specific Requirements



NEBOSH qualification essential 3-5 years experience in a H&S or SHEQ management role Previous H&S responsibility in a logistics/distribution/transport/warehousing environment Experience in managing significant growth Fire and First aid certification desirable Proven ability to create and implement H&S policies and procedures and lead environmental direction

Essential Requirements



Warehouse industry experience essential

Transport & logistics experience advantageous

Risk management

Method statement and risk assessment

Policy generation and review

Site inspections and investigations

Incident accident and near miss investigations

Legislative reporting including RIDDOR

Management of employees/visitors/contractors in H&S

Audit preparations and legal compliance

In depth knowledge of AEO and ISO standards

Comfortable at leading and driving H&S through the company

Excellent reporting skills

Document management

Ability to pass on knowledge and train where necessary

Responsible for all safety inspections in the workplace

Demonstrate best practice at all times

Key Responsibilities will include:



Monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace and advising employees on how to reduce or eliminate these

Completing all paperwork promptly and accurately as directed and in accordance with Legislation.

Ensuring legal compliance within all H&S law

To provide guidance and support with the new build plans and development and continue alongside growth

Comply with all Health & Safety requirements as directed by the Senior Management team

Discuss and improve current administrative processes with the relevant managers and action accordingly when approved

Respond to customer requests immediately and advise the relevant managers should any delays or issues surrounding a customer request be found.

Ensure compliance with Environmental change

To take ownership of their own personal development actively looking to increase their knowledge base and experience at all times.

Aiding in audits and compliance of all sites

Lead H&S meetings and the internal committee

Conduct H&S site inductions for new employees and visitors

Work alongside HR, Transport, Logistics and Warehouse on a consistent basis

Strong ability in both writing and creating reports/procedures/policies/risk assessments etc

Self-motivated and pro-active attitude

Drive to make this role their own with new ideas and direction

A commitment to delivering the best possible customer service.

Confident to work with and train all employees to manage, monitor and improve the health and safety standards in the workplace

Excellent verbal and written skills

To be able to deal with queries and respond efficiently

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and confident to use own initiative

Is readily adaptable to changes in working procedures and practices and is open to opportunities to improve their own skills.

Works well with colleagues and is prepared to cover for absence and work overtime as required

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 50,000.00-60,000.00 per year
