Never Worked in Health and Social Care Before? That's Absolutely Fine.

Honestly, some of our best care workers had never set foot in the care industry before joining us. What matters to us is that you're kind, reliable, and genuinely want to help people. If that sounds like you, we'll teach you everything else.

We're MoralCare - a family-run care company in Morecambe - and we're on a bit of a mission to show people that care work can be rewarding, stable, and actually fit around your life. Because let's be honest, most care jobs don't have the best reputation. Long hours, unpredictable schedules, always being on standby... we get it. That's exactly what we're trying to change.

Here's What Makes Us Different: You'll Actually Know When You're Working

This might sound basic, but it's rare in care work. Most companies either put you on a zero-hours contract (so you're constantly waiting for the phone to ring, never knowing if you'll have work or income), or they give you an hourly contract but keep you on standby because shifts get cancelled or changed at the last minute.

We don't do that.

When you work for MoralCare, your shifts are

contracted

. That means you have guaranteed hours, guaranteed income, and a fixed shift pattern that you'll know weeks, months, even years in advance. Seriously - you'll know when you're working on this day and time in five years from now. You can book holidays, make plans, commit to things in your life without that constant "but what if work calls?" stress, and then having to bargain with the managers.

Your rota follows a two-week pattern that repeats, so there are no surprises. You'll have 3-4 days off every week, and we plan everything well in advance. No last-minute panic calls asking you to cover shifts.

Every Sunday Off. Yes, Really.

Every. Single. Sunday. It's built into your rota, not something we "try" to do. Whether you want to spend it with family, catch up with friends, or just have a proper lie-in, Sundays are yours.

And You Won't Be Working All Day Christmas Day

We know how important the holidays are. Unlike a lot of care companies, we don't expect anyone to work all day on Christmas Day. Your time with loved ones matters, and we protect that.

Flexibility When Life Happens

Need to swap a shift because something's come up? That's fine. Our team works together to help each other out. Whether it's a family commitment, an appointment, or you just need a day off, you can swap and change shifts with colleagues to make it work. We're not rigid about it - life happens, and we get that.

Want More Hours? Just Say the Word

If you fancy picking up extra shifts to boost your income, there's always optional overtime available. But here's the key word:

optional

. You're never pressured to take on more. It's there when you want it, and that's it.

Let's Talk About Money (Because It Matters)

Starting pay:

13.20 per hour if you're unqualified (and we'll get you qualified) 13.30 per hour if you already have your Level 2 13.50 per hour on weekends All mileage reimbursed All travel time between visits is paid for But the best bit? - Your wage increases the longer you're with us!
And your pay goes up the longer you're with us. After a year, you'll get a pay rise. After two years, another one. By the time you've been with us for 10 years, you'll be on 14.50 per hour regardless of qualifications.

You'll also get 5.6 weeks of full paid annual leave (and no, we don't hide that in the hourly rate like some companies do - it's proper paid leave on top of your wages).

The Bonusly Reward Programme (This One's Pretty Special)

Right, so this is something we're genuinely proud of. We have this reward programme where you earn points for things like:

Referring someone great to join the team Going above and beyond for the people you care for Having excellent attendance Taking on optional overtime
Then you can spend those points on whatever you fancy - weekend getaways, spa days, float therapy, helicopter rides, meals out, Asda vouchers, or even extra annual leave. We're talking proper experiences and treats, not just a "well done" email.

We genuinely believe you should be rewarded for your hard work. Our team love it - the weekend getaways and float therapy sessions are particularly popular.

Your Typical Two-Week Rota

Here's what your schedule would look like (and remember, this pattern repeats, so you always know what's coming):

Week 1:

Monday: 7am-9pm Tuesday: 7am-2pm

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday: OFF

Friday: OFF

Saturday: 7am-9pm

Sunday: OFF

Week 2:

Monday: OFF

Tuesday: 2pm-9pm Wednesday: 7am-9pm

Thursday: OFF

Friday: 2pm-9pm Saturday: 7am-9pm

Sunday: OFF

A quick note about those 7am-9pm shifts

- we know they look a bit intimidating on paper, but they're really not. These aren't 14-hour shifts where you're running around non-stop. You'll have a couple of hours off in the middle of the day as breather time, which means you can actually pop home, stick the kettle on, put the slow coocker on, put the washing out, check in with your partner, have a proper break, and recharge before your afternoon visits. It's built into the schedule, so you're not exhausted or burnt out. Think of it more like a morning shift, a proper break, then an evening shift - rather than one long slog. And you'll notice you get 3-4 days off every week, which gives you proper time to rest and live your life.

So What Would You Actually Be Doing?

You'd be visiting elderly and vulnerable people in their own homes around Morecambe and near areas, helping them with whatever they need to live comfortably and independently in their own homes. Every day is a bit different, but you'll always be making a real difference to someone's life.

Personal care things

like helping someone have a bath or shower, getting dressed, or managing continence care. We know this might feel daunting if you've never done it before, but we'll train you properly, and you'll always shadow experienced staff before you're on your own.

Clinical care

like helping with medication (making sure people take the right tablets at the right time), diet and fluid monitoring, monitoring health conditions, and letting us know if something's changed. Some of our clients have PEG tubes or catheters, and again, we'll train you fully on all of this.

Companionship and emotional support

- this is often the bit people love most. Having a chat, a cup of tea, helping someone with a hobby they enjoy, going for a walk together, or just being there so they don't feel alone. These conversations and connections matter more than you'd think.

Practical help

like preparing meals, doing a bit of light housework, laundry, or helping with shopping. Basically making sure their home is safe and comfortable.

You'll work as part of a small, consistent team, so the people you care for get to know you and trust you. Our visits are typically 20 or 50 minutes long, which gives you proper time to do things well rather than rushing. And we make sure travel time between visits is actually achievable - you won't be tearing across town trying to get to the next person.

The Training and Support You'll Get

Remember we said no experience needed? We meant it. Here's how we'll get you ready:

You'll spend 1-2 weeks shadowing experienced care workers before you do anything on your own. You'll watch, learn, ask questions, and gradually start helping out until you feel confident.

You'll have access to our online training platform with a multitude of different courses covering everything from dementia care to infection control to moving and handling. It's all included.

You'll get regular supervisions and competency checks - not in a scary way, but so we can support you, answer questions, and make sure you're feeling confident and doing well.

And there's a clear career path if you want it: Care Worker ? Supervisor ? Deputy Manager ? Manager. Your growth is our growth, butif you're happy to remain on the front line - thats great too!

80% of our care workers have advanced qualifications now, and 50% have additional specialist certifications. We'll help you get there too if that's something you're interested in.

What We're Looking For

You'll need:

A full UK driving licence and your own reliable vehicle (or an electric bike) To be willing to get an enhanced DBS check (we'll refund this in your first wage) A compassionate, reliable, and professional attitude To share our values around treating people with dignity and respect The ability to work as part of a team, and lone work.

It would be great if you have:

Previous care experience (but honestly, it's not essential - we'll train you) Local knowledge of Morecambe and the surrounding areas A Level 2 or 3 qualification, or the willingness to work towards one
