Job Description

To lead the development and delivery of health and wellbeing programmes that improve the physical and mental health of individuals and communities associated with the football club. This role will deliver on strategic initiatives, manage project delivery, and foster partnerships to maximise impact.

Direct project & programme work:



Undertake structured assessment of the needs of families. Lead, develop and support the implementation of well-structured and progressive behaviour change programmes To deliver learning activities for families, children, young people and adults that support healthier lifestyle choices aligned with the assessment of need. Effectively monitor and evaluate the learning activities to support continuous improvement in delivery. Ensure high quality, enjoyable experiences centered around the needs of the participants. Make referrals to other agencies with whom co-working arrangements may be appropriate, e.g. Family Hubs, Schools, Public Health, GP's, Children and Family Services, Education Welfare, CAMHS and Health Visitors.

Work with the Programme Manager and other agencies to identify, develop and implement strategies to engage and support families.

Community Engagement

:

Build strong relationships with local health services, charities, and public health bodies. Represent the club at community events and health forums. Promote programmes through outreach and through club channels working with club colleagues where appropriate.

Volunteer Management



Line manage sessional staff, and volunteers. Provide training, supervision, and support to ensure high-quality delivery. Foster an inclusive, supportive team culture.

Safeguarding and Compliance:



Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection policies. Maintain accurate records and risk assessments. Promote a culture of safety and inclusion across all programmes.

Financial and Resource Management

:

Support the Programme Manager through monitoring and recording budgets, spend and resources effectively. Support the Programme Manager to report data to funders and stakeholders on operational performance of health & wellbeing projects. Support income generation through grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.

Continuous Professional Development

:

Engage in Continuous Professional Development to further knowledge, skills and good working practice.

Internal Wellbeing and Culture

:

Lead internal wellbeing initiatives for staff and volunteers. Contribute to a positive workplace culture aligned with the club's values. Support the ethos, aims and vision of Luton Town FC Community Trust.

MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION



Abilities, Skills and Knowledge

:

Experience;




Proven experience in leading health and wellbeing programmes.


Experience in managing staff and volunteers.


Proven experience of working with children or families gained in a multi-cultural context.


Experience of working within a multi-agency or multi-discipline setting.


Proven experience of working with children with SEND, disabilities or additional needs.


Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.


Ability to analyse data and report on outcomes.


Able to communicate supportively, tactfully and objectively with parents/carers & children and adults to engage them in supporting learning & development opportunities.


Able to undertake basic assessments of the social/care/physical/personal and educational needs of children with their families.


Able to work within policy guidelines and able to exercise judgement as to when to share information & when referrals to external agencies are necessary.


Able to manage periods of conflicting work demands & to maintain accurate records that can be used to inform practice.


Able to work on own initiative with minimum of supervision in co- ordinating & managing a programme of activities for adults, children and their families.


Able to work in conjunction with others in the team to develop & share good practice.


Able to develop and maintain constructive relationships and communications with a range of agencies, and external service providers.


Able to communicate competently both verbally and in written English with all stakeholders.


Able to demonstrate appropriate motivation to work with adults, children and their families.


Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours.


Able to recognise discrimination and act within the policies and procedures of the Trust and the funding agencies.


Possess an understanding and / or experience of cultural and religious issues, which may impact upon adults, children and their families with regards to healthier lifestyle choices and education.


Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection regulations.


Some understanding of child development and of how children and adults learn.


Minimum of five GCSEs, including English and Mathematics (Grades 9-4 or A to C).


Degree or equivalent qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, Sports Science, or related field.


Safeguarding certification (or willingness to obtain).


First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).


Flexible approach to working across seven days.


Willingness to work outside office hours.


Staffing support for other Community Trust projects and match day activations.


Ability to travel to sites throughout Bedfordshire (daily).

Desirables;




Experience working in a football or sports-based community organisation.


Experience in fundraising and grant writing.


Able to communicate in one or more languages such as Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Polish and Romanian.


Relevant qualifications in public health, sports science, or wellbeing.


A CIMPSA approved Level 2 in Gym Instructing.


A CIMPSA approved Level 3 in Personal Training.


Evidence of continuing professional development.

Additional Information:



This role 12 month maternity cover role. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
