The Role: Health & Wellness Engineering Lead

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Health & Wellness Division at VN Labs Ltd ahead of its move to a new, multimillion-pound, purpose-built protein powder manufacturing facility. As the Engineering Lead, the role will play a critical leadership role in preparing the site for, and achieving, BRC accreditation.

The Engineering Lead will have full responsibility for engineering, maintenance ensuring that all equipment and manufacturing facility operates reliably, safely, and in full compliance with food manufacturing, quality, and regulatory standards. The role will also lead continuous improvement initiatives and ensure engineering systems and processes are audit ready.

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Trafford Park, Manchester
Days/Hours: Monday to Friday 8 hours a day between: 05:00 - 14:00

Role and Responsibilities:

Carry out daily - weekly - monthly maintenance and continuous improvement of plant, assets, and site services. Ensure all engineering activities comply with food safety, health & safety, and company standards. Complete scheduled PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) tasks and support the development of improved maintenance systems. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical faults promptly to minimise downtime. Ensure all engineering records, logs, manuals, asset list and documentation are completed accurately, legibly, and on time. Maintain high standards of product quality, hygiene, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). Ensure all buildings, plant, and equipment are safe by design and operation and support safe working practices across the site. Support with SOP's & training Managing third party maintenance of all machinery
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience in engineering or maintenance within food, beverage, or nutraceutical manufacturing environments. Hands-on knowledge of production equipment, utilities, and facility systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Understanding of food safety standards and quality systems, ideally including BRC or similar certifications. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively. Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and preventive maintenance programs. Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with production and quality teams. Qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Familiarity with PPM systems and planned maintenance processes. Good written and verbal communication skills; competent with IT systems
