The role is to work out of our Bournemouth (Wallisdown and Northbourne in Bournemouth) branches to join our wonderful nursing/HCA team at Talbot Medical Centre GP Practice.
Candidates will be within a reasonable commutable distance of our surgeries and must have a Care Certificate as a minimum qualification.
Dependant upon existing skills, there will be a requirement to complete further training some of which may be off site, require some travel out of county.
An enhanced DBS and thorough preemployment checks will be required.

Role objective
Working under supervision and guidance of the nurses and in accordance with practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care,
Providing and maintaining a professional, reliable, welcoming and friendly service to the patients at all times. To carry out the function of this role in an appropriate, accurate and timely fashion to assist the practice in running efficiently.
Tasks include:
Compliance with confidentiality and Data Protection Regulations regarding all staff, visitors, patients, contractors etc. Caldicott Requirements (Patient Confidentiality).
Dressings including Leg Ulcer/Tissue Viability care
Administer Flu/Pnuemococcal vaccinations and B12 injections
Action Tasks and Notifications in a timely fashion
Diabetic Reviews including diabetic foot checks
Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection
Urinalysis
Removal of Sutures
Chaperoning duties
Smoking Cessation Advice/monitoring
Respond appropriately to requirements of QoF both on an ad hoc (via clinical system reminders) and planned (via recalls) basis
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Monitoring, tidying, clearing and re-stocking of consulting rooms
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Record all consultations/patient contacts in the clinical system in accordance with practice policies and ensuring that clinical READ coding is accurately entered.
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
Assisting with administrative and/or reception duties that attribute to improving patient care/experience
To maintain positive and professional relationships with all staff and third parties
Compliance with confidentiality and Data Protection Regulations regarding all staff, visitors, patients, contractors etc. Caldicott Requirements (Patient Confidentiality)
To comply with all Practice protocols, policies, legal requirements and procedures
To undertake training as directed to ensure that that skills remain compliant and at the required standard of the practice
Any other tasks allocated that fall within the scope of Practice requirements and employee's expected skill level
Compliance with the H&S and Equality requirements of the Practice.
Essential:
Min 6 months experience as a HCA in a GP/NHS hospital setting.
Care Certificate
Spirometry certification/completion upon employment
Flu & Pneumonia vaccination certification/completion upon employment
NVQ Level 3 in Care/Completion upon employment
A high standard written and spoken English
Good numeracy and literacy
Keyboard and computer skills
Previous experience in a similar healthcare role/environment
Effective oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
