? Healthcare Assistant (HCA) - Ophthalmology Ward
Location: NHS Hospital / Ophthalmology Inpatient or Day?Case Unit
Type: Temporary
Band: 2-3
SJK Healthcare is seeking dedicated Healthcare Assistants to support patients on busy Ophthalmology wards, caring for individuals undergoing cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, retinal treatments, and eye?related acute admissions.
? Key Responsibilities
- Support patients pre? and post?eye surgery
- Carry out basic observations & escalate abnormalities
- Assist with eye dressings, drop administration support (under RN instruction)
- Guide visually?impaired patients safely around the ward
- Provide personal care, mobility assistance & reassurance
- Maintain a clean, safe environment & follow strict IPC
- Assist with admissions, discharges & patient flow
- Previous HCA experience (hospital or day?surgery beneficial)
- Confident supporting patients with reduced vision
- Enhanced PVG + mandatory training up to date
Compassionate, patient, safety?focused, and confident supporting visually?impaired or post?operative patients.
