We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Leeds, a busy category B prison located in Leeds Centre.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within primary care. Hours:
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working a variety of shifts between Monday and Sunday. This role involves working weekends and nights.
Shifts are 07:00 - 20:30 and 20:00 - 07:30. Weekends are around 2 per month.
Salary:
This position is full time , you'll receive an annual salary of up to 29,723 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
  • Working closely with the wider healthcare team across the site
  • Carry out clinical duties - venepuncture, screenings, ECGs etc
  • Assist with vaccinations and clinics
  • Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
  • Support the nursing and pharmacy teams onsite
  • Assist with release and discharge when needed

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Have experience within a care environment - ideally primary care
  • Clinical experience, such as venepuncture, ECGs etc would be highly desirable!
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ideally hold a NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent - this isn't essential!
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
