Job overview Hogarth Ward has an exciting opportunity for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to join our passionate and motivated team that is dedicated to providing the highest quality specialist oncology care. The Teenage Cancer Trust Unit is based on Hogarth and therefore there will also be opportunities to care for these patients.
Main duties of the job Hogarth offers specialist oncology care from diagnosis, through the interim periods of advancing disease, up to and including end of life care. Patients are cared for holistically, with a focus on both treatment and symptom management, whilst providing care for emotional, spiritual and social needs for both patients and families. You will be provided with the opportunity to work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide a wide variety of support for our patients and their families.
Working for our organisation Hogarth is a 15 bed unit for Oncology patients, this includes 4 specialist Teenage and Young Adult suites for oncology and haematology patients. It provides high quality care centred on the needs of patients and their families. Its aim is to enrich the quality of life through the skills of an experienced and caring team. Our management team is proactive and supportive in ensuring that excellent quality care is provided to our patients. We recognise our responsibility to ensure staff are supported and developed within their working environment in order to achieve our vision for care in line with Trust values and behaviours. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team are essential. Applicants must be confident, enthusiastic and self-motivated. For staff with a keen interest; personal and professional development is actively supported. Previous experience is beneficial but not essential. You must be prepared to work a range of long day shifts, night and twilight (7pm-12am) shifts, also covering the weekend.
