We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they're likely to die from.


The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.


We provide free specialist care and support to patients with terminal illnesses whilst offering vital emotional support for their families. It's all about giving them the best possible quality of life. The support we offer is tailored to meet individuals' medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs.



We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our community team in Oxford to support providing holistic, person centred, end of life care to patients in their own homes.


Your duties will include monitoring and assisting in maintain patients' skin integrity and personal hygiene, conducting nutrition assessments, attending to comfort needs to assist with rest/sleep, provide support with mobility, monitor vitals and overall promote and maintain a clean and tidy care environment.


As a Healthcare Assistant you will practice empathetic communication with the patient and those important to them in a supportive, professional manner and provide high quality personal care and support to enhance wellbeing.

Contract:

Permanent Part-Time (multiple positions available)

Work Schedule:

Hours per Week, Monday to Sunday Including Bank Holidays

Shift Hours

: 10:00pm - 06:30am

Salary: 24,465 per Annum (pro rata), Plus High-Cost Area Supplement

Community Based - Central Oxford

Qualifications



At least six months of recent experience providing care in a Health or Social Care Environment, including caring for patients at the end of life. NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred, not required). Be person-centred and compassionate when caring for the person and those important to them. Ability to develop and evaluate care management plans that meet the complex needs of the person, and those important to them. Thorough understanding of the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual domains of palliative care. Emotional resilience and the capacity to work independently. A valid driving licence and access to a car for travel to patient homes are required.
