We are seeking a caring and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team in Pudsey, Leeds. This role is part-time at 30 hours per week, to be worked over 4 or 5 days. This is an essential role within the practice team, requiring a dedication to support the delivery of the highest standards of patient care.
Under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses, your duties will include phlebotomy, ECGs, urinalysis, dressings and carrying out NHS health checks. A clean driving licence is essential for performing home visits when required. Non-clinical duties include stock checks, chaperone duties and assisting with patient recalls for long-term conditions. No qualifications are essential for the post, although you will need to prove certificates of competency for specific duties. GCSE/'O' level English and Maths are desirable, together with a Level 3/BTEC/NVQ Healthcare qualification. We are a training practice and support the professional development of our staff. For the successful candidate, funded training and support will be available.
Pay will be between 12.36-13.95 per hour, dependent on skills & abilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the HCA. On occasion there may be a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Support GPs and Practice nurses in carrying long term condition reviews
ECG recording
Blood pressure taking and recording
Urinalysis
Height & weight recording
Phlebotomy
Dressings
Inviting in patients eligible for the NHS Health Check
Performing NHS Health Checks
Health promotion and signposting to services
B12, flu and pneumonia vaccinations.
Chaperoning duties
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Ordering, and returning when necessary, medical equipment and supplies
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and wellbeing
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
