We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Healthcare Assistant to support patient care across various medical settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, emergency departments, and specialized units such as Geriatrics, PICU, and Medical-Surgical floors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical procedures. Experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, or trauma centers is highly valued. This role involves providing essential patient services, assisting healthcare professionals with clinical tasks, and ensuring a high standard of patient comfort and safety.
Duties
Assist with patient intake processes, including gathering medical history and documenting vital signs
Support patient care activities such as medication administration under supervision and monitoring patient responses
Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately for documentation and data entry
Perform basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary and respond to emergency situations in hospital or outpatient settings
Support clinical staff with procedures such as X-ray preparation, ICD coding, and assisting in the operating room or trauma centers
Help with patient service tasks including mobility assistance, dressing changes, and comfort measures
Monitor patients' physiological parameters and report abnormalities to healthcare providers
Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas in compliance with hospital protocols
Assist with administrative support tasks related to patient scheduling and documentation
Qualifications
Prior experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or outpatient clinics preferred; experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding standards
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray tech or OR experience are advantageous
Familiarity with EHR systems and medical-surgical procedures
Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as ICU, PICU, or Geriatrics units
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
