We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP New Hall, a female prison and young offenders institution (YOI) in Flockton, West Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team, and work in a varied environment, where you will gain experience across primary care, including emergency response, working on the wings, clinics, health promotion, and more! No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment. Please note that this is a clinical role, and we need candidates that are competent in skills such as Venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2 etc Hours: This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. We deliver healthcare 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, so shifts will include days and nights. You will typically work one week of nights per month (3 shifts in that week), and around 2 weekends per month. Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary of 25,557 - 29,723 per annum - depending on experience. How will we support you?

Main duties of the job
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
  • Carry out bloods, obs, ECGs etc
  • Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods etc
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Work holistically with your patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy etc
  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

  • Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Have experience within a healthcare setting - hospital, community or secure setting
  • Have clinical experience, such as bloods, obs, ECGs etc
  • Any experience in primary care or inpatients would be a bonus!
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
