As a member of the Health Care Team, you will be required to deliver caring and effective care respecting personal dignity and beliefs to all the patients attending the UTC.
You will be required to assist with the maintenance of a safe care environment including preparing and clearing rooms and equipment with reference to infection control and safe working environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Under guidance from qualified staff to deliver patient clinical care i.e dressing of simple wound, application of plaster of paris, application of slings, dressing changes etc.
Please note that this role will involve daytime, evening and weekend working and is based on a rota model supporting the UTC opening hours.
Your day to day...
Clinical
Performs ECG recordings
Performing urine dip and urine pregnancy test
Support ENP with treatment of minor injury such us: simple wound closure, dressing, application of Plaster Of Paris, application of sling and brace (walking boots, wrist splint, knee splint etc.)
Record Vital Signs and report abnormal recording and/ or all adverse signs, symptoms to the clinician responsible for the patient
Demonstrate basic life support skills after training
To act as a chaperone when necessary
Effective communication within the nursing team and between other care teams, patients, relatives, and visitors
Assist with all aspects of patient care following instruction from and under supervision of the assigned clinician.
Moving and handling of patients using appropriate techniques acquired from training
Assemble procedure trolleys as required
Have oversight of the medical equipment used at the Urgent Treatment Centre, for instance organising replacements and calibration.
Administrative
To support admin staff in redirecting and booking patients in as required in the appropriate IT system
Assist the Urgent Treatment Centre to achieve both local and national agreed targets.
To order, maintain and organising stock and pharmacy order for the UTC.
To assist in ensuring that Health & Safety policies and procedures are followed within the Urgent Care setting.
Responsible for Fire Co-ordinator duties in the department as per fire procedures.
To assist in keeping the clinical rooms and waiting area tidy at the end of each day in line with the Infection Prevention and Control guidelines and procedures
To participate in training and development as required and to ensure that resources are used to full potential.

Qualifications, experience & training...
Previous experience of working within a Urgent Treatment Centre or Hospital environment is essential.
Good general education, educated to NVQ 2 level or equivalent
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
Knowledge of medical terminology
Previous experience of effective team working
Knowledge of healthcare computer systems, for example Adastra
