Leisure Guard Security is currently recruiting experienced
Healthcare Security Officers
to join our expanding team providing high-quality security services across NHS hospitals in Greater Manchester.
This is a critical role requiring both professionalism and compassion, as you will work closely with NHS staff, vulnerable patients, and the general public to ensure a safe, secure, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct proactive and reactive patrols within hospital buildings and surrounding grounds.
Respond swiftly and effectively to incidents involving aggression, trespass, or disruptive behavior.
Assist clinical staff during challenging patient interactions using de-escalation and intervention techniques.
Control access to wards, treatment areas, and restricted zones.
Uphold site policies such as smoking regulations, parking enforcement, and visitor protocols.
Special Focus: Patient Watch
You will be required to perform
Patient Watch duties
--where a Security Officer is dedicated to monitoring a specific high-risk patient on a one-to-one basis. This includes:
Ensuring the safety of both the patient and staff when a patient may be experiencing a mental health crisis, exhibiting aggressive behavior, or requiring close observation due to self-harm risks.
Maintaining a calm, non-confrontational presence to support the well-being of vulnerable individuals.
Working closely with clinical teams to ensure appropriate responses and ongoing risk assessment.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Valid
SIA Licence
(Security Guarding or Door Supervision).
Minimum 1 year's experience
working in a healthcare security environment, preferably within the NHS.
Proven experience in
Patient Watch
, mental health observation, or working closely with vulnerable individuals.
Strong understanding of conflict resolution, de-escalation, and safeguarding procedures.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in high-stress environments.
Physically fit with the ability to remain alert and professional during long shifts.
Desirable Skills
SIA CCTV Licence (or willingness to obtain).
Additional qualifications in mental health awareness, first aid, or PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression).
Full UK driving licence.
Familiarity with NHS protocols and patient confidentiality requirements (GDPR, Caldicott Principles).
