We want you to join our team in our Day Surgery unit at Kidderminster Treatment centre. You will have the opportunity to be part of this service and our innovative ways of working as we grasp this opportunity to influence, shape and develop the changing face of our stand alone Day surgery unit.
The Surgical Day case unit provides Day case surgery, for a variety of specialities including general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, ear nose and throat and urology.
The ability to communicate effectively with the patients and all members of the team is essential. You will be supported in this post by the unit manager and our exceptional team.
Main duties of the job
Ensure the unit is adequately prepared at the start of the day and re-stocked as necessary, including cleaning ward areas and trolleys etc.
To welcome patients onto the unit and undertake observations this includes temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, weight, body mass index, urinalysis and blood sugars. Any variations must be reported immediately to trained staff to maintain patient safety.
To assist trained nurse with patient admissions and to care for patients post operatively, providing diet and fluids and observations.
To assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean clinical environment to reduce the risk of infection.
To assist with the ordering and monitoring of stock items to ensure efficient use of department resources.
To chaperone patients during physical examinations and procedures.
To assess patients wellbeing and seek support if required from other healthcare professionals.
