Location: Weald of Kent Grammar School is located on two campuses; Tonbridge and Sevenoaks. You will be required to work at both sites.
Working collaboratively with the Nurse, the Healthcare support worker will administer first aid and assist with patient care, including simple clinical procedures and supporting children with medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma and epilepsy. The role also includes keeping and updating computerised and paper records appropriately, assisting with dispensing medications under the direction of the Nurse, in line with the school medication protocols.
Applicants must be a team player, empathetic, approachable, an excellent communicator, well organised and demonstrate initiative. Essential to the role is a high level of confidentiality and integrity and experience of working with young people in a pastoral or medical setting with a minimum of 1 years' experience.
When no medical support is required, mental health support may be required in the absence of our mental health support worker. This role is only suitable for candidates who are robust and able to cope in often stressful and sometimes upsetting situations.
We are looking for a highly motivated, autonomous individual to assist in the delivery of high-quality care to students and staff. The candidate must be able to work unsupervised during the school day, across both school sites in the absence of the school nurse and will be required to take on medical responsibility in the nurse's absence.
Application Closing Date: Tuesday 7th October 2025, 9am
Shortlist Interview Date: Monday 13th October 2025
Early applications are advised as the School reserves the right to appoint at any stage during the application process.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. As this role involves 'regulated activity' with children the successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure application. Employment will be conditional upon the College being satisfied with the result of the Enhanced DBS check and the outcome of all other checks.
The School will also carry out a check of the Children's Barred List on the successful applicant. Applicants should be aware that it is unlawful for the School to employ anyone to work with children if they are barred from doing so, and it is a criminal offence for a person to apply to work with children if they are barred from doing so.
This role is also exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask shortlisted applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
