About the role

As a Heat Network Compliance Engineer at Insite Energy, you'll play a key role in ensuring our communal and district heat networks meet the highest standards of compliance, performance, and technical integrity.

From conducting metering audits and RF surveys to shaping the design and assurance of our metering infrastructure, you'll be at the heart of Insite's mission to deliver smarter, more efficient, and compliant heat networks across the UK.

You'll work directly with clients, contractors, and our in-house teams throughout every stage of the project lifecycle, from pre-sales scoping through to installation validation and ongoing performance monitoring.

What you'll be doing

Carrying out technical and compliance audits of metering systems in line with UK regulation (MID, HNTAS, Ofgem). Conducting LoRaWAN RF surveys to design and optimise reliable communications infrastructure. Leading technical scoping studies and developing compliant metering solutions tailored to each site. Supporting installation and commissioning stages to ensure systems are delivered to design intent. Producing clear, professional reports and compliance summaries for internal and client stakeholders. Acting as Insite Energy's technical representative with developers, housing associations, and consultants.

Location and working hours

37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30 UK-wide travel with regular site-based work in London and major cities. Hybrid working model available with office space in London or Peterborough, and home working for reporting and analysis duties. Occasional overnight stays depending on site locations.

Strong knowledge of the Heat Network (Metering & Billing) Regulations and awareness of HNTAS/Ofgem frameworks. Proven experience conducting technical audits or site surveys in utilities, building services, or energy sectors. Understanding of LoRaWAN, M-Bus, and smart metering systems. Excellent communication and client-facing skills. Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationwide.

Desirable:

Why join Insite Energy?
