We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of heavy machinery, including excavators, forklifts, and other construction equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, and proficiency with various hand and power tools. Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators and forklifts.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools.
Repair or replace faulty components, including welding, soldering, and fabrication tasks as needed.
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to perform repairs efficiently.
Read and interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams to facilitate accurate repairs.
Perform equipment assembly and disassembly for repair or refurbishment purposes.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and recommendations.
Assist with the training of junior team members when required.
Requirements
Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance or a related field.
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, soldering, electrical systems, and schematics interpretation.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised maintenance equipment.
Experience repairing construction machinery such as excavators and forklifts is highly desirable.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple repair tasks simultaneously.
Strong customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction.
