Job Description

We have new contract vacancy for an experienced and capable herdsperson to take the day-to-day control, with assistance, of a 300-cow autumn calving Holstein herd on 2 x milking yielding over 10,000 litres.
Cows are currently milking in a 20 x 20 Herringbone with feeders, and a new 24 x 48 parallel parlour is a few months from being finished.
Housed cows are in sawdust bedded cubicles with tractor scraping and fed a TMR, and graze for 5 months.
The appointed person will be responsible for all milkings, get involved in vet visits and sorting cows for AI, and foot trimming by an outside contractor.
A competitive salary and accommodation, off farm, are provided for the successful candidate, who will have alternate weekends off and every Monday. Also, in the future, the farmer can reduce milkings for the herdsperson to mornings only.
