THE JOB ROLE
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced herds person to join a successful team, on a progressive dairy farm.
THE COMPANY
Our client is a leading Dairy farm located in the Scottish Borders Who provide high-quality products to customers while maintaining the utmost care and respect for animals and the environment.
THE CANDIDATE
As a Herds person you will play a crucial role in the daily care and management of our Holsteins herd. You will be responsible for ensuring the health, well-being, and productivity of our animals while upholding our commitment to sustainable farming practices.
- Overall management of the herd to meet achievable efficiency targets.
- Keeping all records up to date
- Creating a tidy environment, leading by example.
- Taking full responsibility for dry cow/transition management, calving cows, cell counts, colostrum protocols, fertility etc.
- Liaising with vets, business advisers.
- Managing the monthly foot trimmer\'s requirements.
- AI & Foot trimming experience Essential
- Potential showing opportunities for the right person.
Four-bedroom family cottage included, local amenities, great school options.
Farm is mixed dairy and arable, over 2100 acres growing combinable crops alongside milking.
