We are a family run dairy farm in South West Scotland, we are looking to recruit a Herdsperson/Youngstock Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about livestock and sustainable farming to join a progressive and supportive team.
About the Farm
380 calving all year round, the cows are milked two times per day through a 12/24 point herringbone parlour. Focused on regenerative farming methods. Milk from the herd is sold to Muller. The herd is bred using ABS genetics to maintain quality and yield.
Key Responsibilities
Daily care of the herd, with animal welfare as the top priority.
Milking to a high standard as part of a team, maintaining a clean and safe parlour.
Monitoring calf health, identifying illnesses and reporting concerns promptly.
Keeping accurate and up-to-date records for compliance. Liaising with the vets and the Farm Manager.
Supporting youngstock management , calving and colostrum protocols.
Tagging and dehorning of calves.
Ensuring the yard and facilities are tidy and safe.
Requirements
Previous experience in dairy farming preferably youngstock and calves, with particular focus on milking. Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail. A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
