Are you passionate about history, stories, and preserving the past for future generations?

We have a rare and rewarding opportunity for an Heritage Engagement Officer to join our Research Team at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN).

At the RHN, we provide compassionate, person-centred care for adults with complex neuro-disabilities--supporting individuals and their families through every stage of the care journey, from post-acute rehabilitation to end-of-life care. Our work is grounded in a strong foundation of research, education, and innovation.

Founded in 1854 as the Royal Hospital for Incurables, the RHN was a trailblazer in offering long-term care for people living with chronic illness or serious injury. Today, our archives are a treasure trove of British medical and social history, featuring hand-written letters from Florence Nightingale, speeches by Charles Dickens, and patient records spanning more than 170 years.

We are now looking for a Heritage Engagement Officer to join our archivist to preserve our cultural heritage, engage communities, and promote awareness of historical significance through various projects and initiatives

Person Specification:

1. Degree or equivalent qualification relating to archives or heritage preferably in a healthcare context.

2. Experience of developing and carrying out research projects

3. Experience of working within heritage and healthcare environments

4. Experience of applying for heritage and arts-related grants and delivering objectives within budget expectations (desirable).

5. Experience of working with volunteers

6. Experience in developing and delivering heritage engagement activities

7. Experience of working with disabled adults

8. Excellent organisational skills

9. Excellent communication skills

10. Computer literate and fluent in social media (desirable)

11. Proven experience of partnership working with other organisations (desirable)
