HGV Chassis Engineer
to join our dynamic team and play a key role in the design, development, and validation of cutting-edge chassis systems, and an exciting opportunity to join a progressive, forward thinking and rapidly growing business - privately owned & based in Deeside, Flintshire.
AVT are specialists in a wide range of Commercial vehicle conversions including:
Chassis modifications, Direct vision windows, Exhaust relocations, Dual steer conversions & Exciting new developments in heavy haul CNG conversions.
The position would suit enthusiastic technicians that have an interest in the automotive / commercial sector, that have the drive and ambition to grow their skills and excel within their role.
About the Role:
As a HGV Chassis Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering robust and innovative chassis solutions that meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll contribute throughout the product development lifecycle--from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the design and development of HGV chassis components and systems (e.g., frame, suspension, steering, brakes).
Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and testing to validate performance.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure component compatibility and integration.
Create and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
Support prototype builds, vehicle testing, and troubleshooting of chassis-related issues.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards.
What We're Looking For:
Mechanical engineering background
Hands on experience with workshop fitting, assembly, fabrication
Cutting, shaping, fitting parts and assemblies
Preparation, painting, packing parts and assemblies
Experience of using hand and power tools and workshop machinery
Ability to understand engineering drawings
Good understanding of general health and safety.
Able to work effectively alone or as part of a team
Must be organised and an effective communicator
An engineering qualification - C&G, BTEC Level 3, NVQ, etc would be advantageous but not a requirement
Proven experience in chassis engineering, ideally within the HGV or commercial vehicle sector.
Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, structural analysis, and materials.
Proficiency in Mig/Mag welding techniques - Ideally Coded to BS9606
Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to engineering challenges.
