HGV Class 1 Driver

The Role

HG Timber Limited has always enjoyed excellent customer relationships and in recent years has seen steady year on year growth. The new premises and production plant has enabled the Company to increase capacity, reduce production costs and seize opportunities to design and develop new timber-based products.

We currently have an excellent customer base, supplying a range of products to some of the most prominent UK based businesses in the UK today. Always trying to maintain and deliver the highest standard of quality timber products available in the marketplace.

We now have the following new opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to join our growing team. The person must be highly motivated with great communication skills. Must be in good physical health and be prepared to work flexibly as part of a team.

The following specific skills and experience are required:

Experienced in all aspects of driving HGVs, previous experience within haulage sector is essential, also have the ability to comply with all drivers' hours and Road Transport Directive legislation. Must hold a driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) licence. The basic working week will consist of 45 hours plus overtime with 2-3 nights out per week.

Working as a HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe delivery/collection of goods nationally on behalf of H G Timber Limited and must hold a clean and valid license including a driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) licence. The ideal candidate will have experience in driving various types of vehicles, including flatbed lorries, curtain siders and possess a valid clean commercial driving license.

Your duties will involve (but are not limited to):

Safely operate and drive HGV lorries to transport goods and materials and ensuring goods are safely secured To act as a company ambassador when dealing with customers Liaising with HG Timber to ensure the transport office is kept up to date and informing them of any potential delays To complete all paperwork promptly and accurately as required Delivering goods in a timely manner using the quickest route wherever possible to plan and adapt routes as necessary and feedback to transport office on any issues around load planning and routing The driver must hold an HGV Class 1 license with 3 years or more experience is advantageous Proficient in driving flatbed and curtain siders Must comply with all Health and Safety requirements at HG Timber Ltd, on road and at customers' premises and to take the responsibility for ensuring own fitness to drive at all times Possession of a valid commercial driving license is essential Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations i.e. drivers' hours and Road Transport Directive Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and procedures Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks i.e. tyres, etc Keeping your vehicle in good condition at all times Attention to detail Carry out all the necessary checks to ensure vehicle is safe & legal and to follow appropriate procedures if it is not
