Job Overview

We're growing - and we're looking for additional Drivers to join our friendly and supportive team!

This role is mainly focused on shunting between our depot and a customer site in Maidstone. It's a simple, consistent route with set timings:

Monday to Friday: Leave the yard at 4 PM, head to Maidstone to load, and usually back by 9-10 PM. Weekends: Start a little earlier, leaving the yard at 2 PM and typically back by 8 PM.
There may be occasional longer or shorter days - for example, if a driver needs support or a vehicle is going in for servicing - so a bit of flexibility is appreciated. (Longer days are supported with additional rate of pay)

This job could be perfect for someone semi-retired or just looking for a more relaxed, predictable pace.

We're currently looking to cover this 7-days-a-week operation with a 4-on / 4-off shift pattern, but we're open to discussing other setups if it works well for everyone.

I currently do this route myself - it's a solid job with great consistency. But with the business continuing to grow, I'm finding it hard to juggle everything. That's why I'm looking for someone reliable and easygoing to step in and take over the run.

Responsibilities

Transport goods to designated locations. Ensure all deliveries are made in a timely manner while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Load and unload goods safely, ensuring proper securing of cargo for transport. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel consumption. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transit. Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients during deliveries. Food allowance/nights out on top of basic pay where applicable.

Experience

Proven experience in a similar role is preferred. Valid C1, Digi and Tacho cards. Over 25 with no more than 6 points for insurance purposes. Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude are highly desirable.
