Job Description

Challenge Packaging is a specialist in corrugated packaging design and manufacture. We work hard to ensure our cardboard box supply is as efficient as possible and extend that methodology into packaging supplies to offer a full service to our customers.

We are now looking to recruit a Class 1 relief driver to support our logistics team during peak periods, holidays, and absences.

The working hours are 7am - 4pm, Monday - Friday.

General Description of the Job

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be required to ensure all goods are delivered in a timely manner. You will need to be customer focused and have a good attention to detail in a multi-drop environment. The ideal candidate will have a C+E (Class 1) license with a detailed knowledge of the Southeast. The position requires a certain amount of manual handling so you will need to be fit and have a good awareness of health and safety. You will need to be 25 or over in accordance with our Company insurance policy.

Main Duties

Ensure vehicles are checked daily and any defects reported to Supervisor / Line Manager prior to leaving site. Carry out multi drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner and respect site rules of customer premises / property. On arrival ensure that the delivery is offloaded safely, check goods and obtain signature and date on the delivery note. Notify relevant department / members of staff with any deliveries not met. Operate vehicles under conditions of Operators License and in accordance with the law. Maintain cleanliness of driver's cab and look after vehicle to ensure it not subjected to unnecessary damage. Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles where necessary and in accordance with procedures. Observe and follow all health and safety procedures including manual handling practices, dress code and company standards. Ensure accidents are kept to a minimum and report any accidents, near misses and /or issues regarding health and safety appropriately. Ensure courtesy to customers and other road users at all times and that vehicles are driven with due care and attention at all times.

Additional Duties

To maintain standards in line with the requirements of the job and any policies currently in place. To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be determined by a Director from time to time. Key Competencies

Reliable and committed with excellent time keeping skills. Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Understand and follow both written and oral directions. Good understanding of customer service and communication skills. Good Tachograph knowledge and understanding of Digital cards and CPC hours. Excellent knowledge of Working Time Directive and Drivers' Hour Regulations. Good Health and Safety knowledge and awareness. Physically fit, good manual handling techniques and used to a variety of manual processes. Ability to observe legal and defensive driving practices and awareness of other road users. Understanding vehicle safety and loading checks. Good understanding of Multi drop deliveries.

Qualifications

C+E license (Class 1) Level 1 English and Maths CPC hours Forklift license (desirable)

Experience
