Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and skilled HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across various locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and adherence to all traffic regulations. The successful applicant will have experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed vehicles, and will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries.

Responsibilities

Operate lorries in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo, especially when using flatbed trailers. Maintain accurate delivery logs and records of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that occur during transport. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the transportation process. Assist with basic maintenance of the vehicle as needed, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.

Skills

Proven experience as a HGV Class 1 Driver with a valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type. Familiarity with delivery driver responsibilities, including route planning and time management. Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices for safe driving. Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism at all times. Good organisational skills to manage schedules and maintain accurate records.
