Responsibilities

Safely operate flatbed lorries and other commercial vehicles to transport goods to designated locations. Ensure all cargo is securely loaded and properly balanced before transit. Conduct routine vehicle inspections prior to each shift, reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery times and any unforeseen delays. Uphold safety standards at all times, including compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies. Assist with loading and unloading cargo when necessary, ensuring careful handling of goods.

Experience

Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver experience specialising in flatbed transportation. Valid driving licence suitable for operating heavy goods vehicles (HGV). Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial driving. Experience in planning efficient delivery routes using GPS or route planning software is advantageous. Familiarity with handling flatbed loads and securing cargo safely during transit is desirable.
