Title:

Large Goods Vehicle Driver

Based at:

Meek Street, Royton

Reporting to

: Transport Manager

Job role:

Collect and deliver various goods throughout the U.K. with nights away as required.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday very occasionally returning to yard Saturday mornings. Drivers are required to be flexible as start and finish times may vary to meet the needs of our customers.

Key responsibilities:

To drive LGV vehicle safely, legally and efficiently as required.

To comply with all drivers hours and Road Transport Directive legislation.

To load and unload vehicle and maintain safety and security of load at all times.

To carry out all necessary checks to ensure vehicle is safe and legal and to follow appropriate procedures if it is not.

To act as company ambassador when dealing with customers.

To complete all paperwork promptly and accurately as required.

To plan and adapt routes as necessary and feedback to traffic office on any issues around load planning and routing.

To comply with all Health & Safety requirements in depot, on road and at customers' premises and to take responsibility for ensuring own fitness to drive at all times.

Person Specification:

Must be in good physical health and be prepared to work flexibly as part of a team. The following specific skills and experience are required:

Experienced in all aspects of driving LGVs.

Thorough knowledge of driver hours legislation, tachograph procedures and other legal obligations.

Demonstrate route planning and map reading ability.

Knowledge of load restraint procedures.

Essential literacy and numeracy skills.

A commitment to delivering the best possible customer service.

Works well with colleagues and is prepared to cover absence.

Works with minimal supervision and is prepared to use own initiative.

Is readily adaptable to changes in working procedures and practices and is open to opportunities to improve own skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 37,500.00-45,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

Oldham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:

Driving: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Driver CPC (preferred)
