Overview

We are seeking an experienced fridge Truck Driver to join our team, initially as holiday relief but could lead to a permanent job. The role involves early starts and would be 6 shifts one week, starting Sunday night and 5 shifts the following week, starting Monday morning. This role will involve unloading using a pump truck, but not at all drops. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage routes effectively.

Duties

Operate a refrigerated lorry to transport goods to various locations. Ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo, securing loads appropriately. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Conduct regular fridge temperature checks at least 4 hourly. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and regulations while driving. Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing any client queries or concerns professionally.

Experience

Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with refrigerated lorries, is essential. A valid commercial driving licence (C+E or equivalent) is required. No more than 6 points on license for insurance purposes. Previous experience as a delivery driver is essential. Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices in transportation. Ability to navigate using GPS systems and maps effectively. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
