Class 2 HGV Driver

who is equally happy to support our yard operations.

The Role

This is a dual-purpose role where you will be responsible for the safe delivery of goods to our customers and the efficient day-to-day operation of our timber yard. This is a hands-on position; when you are not out on deliveries, you will work as an integral part of the yard team to maintain a safe and productive environment. Your flexibility will be key to ensuring all delivery activities and yard tasks run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Deliveries:

Safely operate a Class 2 HGV to deliver timber products to trade and retail customers.

Hi-ab Operations:

Use lorry-mounted cranes (Hi-ab) for the efficient loading and unloading of vehicles.

Full training will be provided

if you do not already hold this qualification.

Yard Operations:

When not driving, you will perform yard operative duties, including managing stock movement and ensuring accurate inventory control.

Customer Service:

Assist both trade and retail customers with collections and product enquiries, ensuring the yard remains clean and easy to navigate.

Logistics Coordination:

Work closely with the team to ensure loads are prepared accurately and customer deliveries are scheduled efficiently.

Health and Safety:

Enforce and uphold all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for the team and all visitors.

Equipment Operation:

Safely operate a forklift, side loader, and other yard equipment as required.

Vehicle Maintenance:

Conduct and record regular safety checks of your vehicle and equipment.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

A valid

Class 2 (Category C)

HGV License and CPC.

Previous experience in a warehouse, yard, or builders' merchant or similar environment.

A valid license for a forklift and/or side loader is preferred, though training is available.

Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.

A thorough understanding of health and safety practices.

Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual warehouse and yard duties.

Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
