Job Description

Thomas Ash & Sons Ltd, a family-run business, is seeking to recruit a Class 2 Recovery Driver to join our dedicated team. We invite interested candidates to carefully review the full job description before applying. Please note that references will be required.

Key Requirements:

A minimum of one year of current HGV driving experience is essential; however, exceptions may be considered based on relevant previous employment.

Applicants must have experience driving a manual gearbox HGV, as our fleet exclusively operates with manual vehicles.

Suitable parking for a recovery truck (12 ton transporter) must be available nearby.

Candidates should reside within approximately 6 miles of our depot (G32 6AS) due to specific operational requirements. Applications from individuals residing beyond this distance will not be considered.

Some Basic mechanical knowledge is preferred but not essential.

Work Schedule:

You will be on call every second week, including weekends, after normal working hours. This will be home-based while on call with a recovery truck.

During your off-call week, your schedule will be Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 (40 hours).

On-call weeks will also follow the same Monday to Friday schedule, with additional responsibilities during weekends.

Main Responsibilities:

Provide recovery services for cars and light commercial vehicles, including performing jump starts and wheel changes. Training will be provided for these tasks.

Full training for vehicle recovery will typically last between 4 to 6 weeks, depending on individual progress.

Working in depot lookng after issued vehicle and any other duties

All applicants must successfully pass a Disclosure Scotland check.

You will also be required to assist with roadworks recovery, which may occasionally involve weekend assignments at full pay for 24 hours.

SALARY:

620 per week before tax

Extras: Call outs, Overtime & Roadworks Recovery.

Basic working week is 40 hrs.
