HGV Class 2 Driver

Job Summary

We're looking for a reliable, safety-driven HGV Class 2 (Cat C) Driver . The ideal candidate will be punctual, physically fit, and committed to working safely to deadlines while representing the company professionally on customer sites.

Key Responsibilities Driving & Transport

Operate Class 2 flatbed/rigid lorries to deliver and collect scaffolding tubes, fittings, boards and ancillary equipment. Complete daily walk-around checks, defect reporting, and basic first-line maintenance. Secure loads using approved methods (e.g., ratchet straps, edge protection, load plans) and comply with DVSA and company standards. Plan routes to optimise drops/collections; maintain driver CPC hours, tachograph records, mileage and fuel logs. Liaise with transport/yard/operations to resolve delays, site constraints or access issues. Load/unload vehicles, handball materials, pass/load out components at height, fix toe-boards and guardrails as directed. Keep yard, vehicle and sites tidy; assist with stock counts, kit sorting and basic equipment checks. Follow RAMS and site inductions; wear and maintain required PPE.
Compliance & Administration

Adhere to Company, H&S, PUWER, LOLER and site rules at all times. Complete delivery notes/PODs, incident/near-miss reports, and toolbox talk sign-offs. Represent the company professionally with clients, the public and other trades.
Skills & Experience Essential

UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence with Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card. Proven commercial driving experience with flatbeds or similar and excellent load-securing skills. Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and working outdoors in all weather. Strong awareness of site safety and willingness to work at height under supervision. Good communication, teamwork and time-management; able to work independently when required.
Desirable

HIAB/ALLMI crane (lorry loader), Banksman/Traffic Marshal, Slinging/Signalling or PASMA tickets. Experience in social housing/new-build/refurb sites and permit to work environments.
Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum age 21+ (for insurance purposes). Right to work in the UK.

Working Hours & Pay

Monday-Friday, typical early starts; overtime and occasional Saturdays as required. Pay: Competitive hourly rate + overtime premiums (DOE). Company pension and standard benefits.
