Thorn Baker Recruitment are looking for Class 2 HGV Drivers!
Join the local Council's Waste Management Team as a Class 2 HGV Refuse Driver. This hybrid role involves operating a refuse collection vehicle and assisting with physical waste collection tasks. While driving is required, much of the role involves refuse loading duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving: Operate a Class 2 refuse lorry safely in residential and urban areas.
- Manual Handling: Load and unload bins and waste materials; assist other loaders as needed.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other crew members to complete routes efficiently.
- Health & Safety: Follow all relevant safety protocols while driving and loading.
- Customer Interaction: Represent the Council professionally when engaging with the public.
- A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
- At least 2 years of experience driving Class 2 vehicles
- Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
- Valid digital tachograph card
- Physically capable of manual work and loading duties
- Willingness to alternate between driving and loading tasks
- Team-oriented, reliable, and safety-conscious
- Previous experience in refuse collection or similar physical work is a plus (not essential)
- Pay Rate: 13.50 per hour, with potential increases over time
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Training: Full training provided
