As an HGV Driver you will be responsible for transporting goods and making multiple deliveries to various locations within a designated geographical area. Your primary role is to ensure the safe and timely delivery of goods to customers while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation: Safely and efficiently operate an HGV, adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle's roadworthiness, reporting any issues through the appropriate channels.
Load and Unload: Properly load and secure goods onto the vehicle, ensuring that they are protected from damage during transit. Assist with unloading goods at each delivery location, providing basic assistance if required.
Documentation and Records: Complete all necessary paperwork, such as delivery notes, waste transfer notes, accurately and promptly. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents that occur during transportation.
Customer Service: Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner, serving as a representative of the company. Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and escalate complex issues to the appropriate department.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and the public. Comply with relevant legal requirements, including tachograph regulations, driver's hours, and vehicle weight restrictions.
Vehicle Maintenance: Carry out basic maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall vehicle condition. Report any mechanical faults or defects promptly.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with the transport team providing updates on delivery progress, delays, or any other relevant information.
Qualifications and Skills:
Valid HGV driving license C +E
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
Knowledge of road traffic regulations and tachograph regulations
Previous experience in multidrop deliveries is highly desirable
Strong geographical knowledge of the designated delivery area
Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
Ability to operate vehicle tracking and navigation systems
Good communication and customer service skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork and record-keeping
