Day work, Monday - Friday and 1 x Saturday in 4. Overtime will be payable for Saturday working and shifts over 10 hrs. Start time is 5.30 am. Flexibility in start and finish times is required to make the job successful and meet the needs of the business and Customer requirements.

The Company:
Forward Waste Management is a waste recycling company based in Cardiff & Barry. We manage the collection and disposal of various waste from predominately manufacturing companies in South Wales, South West and Midlands.
We would like to speak with candidates who have experience with hook lift and skip vehicles as this is essential to the role.
The role:
Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, the job holder will be required to drive and operate hook lift and skip vehicles and occasionally curtain sider vehicles depending on the operational needs of the business. The role is predominately driving however, you will need to be reasonably hands on e.g. operate the sheeting system, close the back doors etc. All related tasks, to ensure the safe movement of goods and vehicles must be completed as detailed in Standard Operating Procedures eg. loading/unloading of various containers and vehicles. Ensuring standards of behaviour and conduct are in line with our focus on on-time delivery and Customer satisfaction.
Duties.
Vehicles and driving:
Ensuring that all transport compliance, legislation and in-house procedures are complied with at all times.
Working with the Transport Manager, ensure all vehicles are serviced and maintained in a fit and road worthy condition at all times in accordance with the Company's Operating License requirements.
Being prepared at all times for any unscheduled checks and inspection by the Board of Directors or any representative of a regulatory authority.
Carrying out all driving duties in a safe manner as instructed by the Transport Manager.
Must adhere to Tachograph & Working Time Directive Regulations.
Must adhere to company health & safety regulations.
Ensuring vehicles are maintained and cleaned inside and out to meet required standards. (As far as is reasonably practicable drivers will retain their own truck).
Loading and unloading:
Check list of jobs and adhere to SOP's and any special instructions including specific Customer requirements
Load vehicle ensuring load is safe and accurate and compliant with health and safety standards
Unload vehicle at disposal site ensuring adherence to standards required and compliant with health and safety standards
Other duties:
Delivering, through the Transport Manager and operations team an agreed service level in line with Company KPI's.
Adopting a proactive approach to help achieve fleet productivity targets.
Ensuring all accidents and injuries are reported promptly and correctly.
Producing and completing driver's paperwork via the PDA eg: weighbridge tickets, waste transfer notes and any other paperwork required.
Skills & experience:
Educated to a reasonable standard
Current Class 2 driving licence essential, Class 1 licence is desirable
ADR certified would be a distinct advantage or willing to obtain
Wagon and Drag experience would be advantageous
Holder of digital tachograph card
Up to date with CPC training hours requirement
Previous experience of working within waste or similar business would be an advantage
Accuracy and attention to detail
Good time management and self-motivated
Good communication skills both internally within the business and externally with customers and stakeholders
Note:
Successful candidate/s will be required to pass a driving competency assessment prior to commencement.
Appropriate training will be provided
Competency sign off will need to be achieved prior to driving solo at the end of the training period. Sign off will be undertaken by nominated, trained, competent representatives of the Companies Transport Department.
