Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Driver to join our team at S Thorogood and Sons Ltd. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial driving, specifically tail lift refrigerated vehicles, and a strong commitment to safety and timely deliveries. As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting wholesale fruit and vegetables to various locations in London and Southern counties, while ensuring compliance with all road safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Operate tail lift lorries safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing of items for safe transport. Maintain accurate delivery records and logs as required by company policies. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any concerns or questions from clients.

Qualifications

Valid commercial driving licence (C+E) with a clean driving record. Proven experience as a delivery driver. Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving. Ability to perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading cargo. Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
