Job Description

At McDermotts, we're seeking an experienced

HGV Driver - Class 1

to join our team, the ideal candidate will transport building materials, plant, and equipment between McDermotts head office, McDermotts sites and other locations as specified by the Project Manager.




Main Responsibilities




Drive Category C/C + E safely, legally and efficiently as required. Comply with all drivers' hours and road transport directive legislation. Load and unload vehicle safely. Always maintain safety and security of load. Undertake necessary checks to ensure vehicle is safe and legal and to follow appropriate procedures if it is not. Present tacho card to plant & fleet manager as and when required. Always present a positive impression of the company. Complete all necessary paperwork timely and accurately. Plan and adapt routes as required. Comply with all health and safety requirements at head office, on the road and at sites. Maintain responsibility to ensure own fitness to drive at all times. Undertake appropriate training and development to maintain driving qualifications. Carry out all duties in accordance with health and safety regulations, policies and procedures. Undertake any other duties as required from time to time.



Essential requirements:




Thorough knowledge of driver's legal obligations Route planning Knowledge of loading and unloading procedures and restraints Knowledge of site and road health and safety procedures Knowledge of the prevention of falls from height



Experience required:



Appropriate LGV/HGV licence Class 1 LGV/HGV driving experience - Low Loader - Class 1 Continued training and development to maintain licence Appropriate vehicle loading qualification Loading/Unloading plant equipment
